Image Compressor – Compress Images Without Uploading Them

I built this because every online compressor made me upload my image first, then asked for my email, then slapped a watermark on it. Here you drop an image, set the quality, and download — everything happens inside your phone or laptop.

A note from me

I ran this tool on 200+ images — product photos, screenshots, and phone camera shots. What worked for me: e-commerce product photos at 1200×1200px and 80% quality. WhatsApp photos at 1600px and 75%. For websites, use WebP — it's 30-40% smaller than JPG at the same visual quality.

How to use this tool

  1. 1Pick your image (JPG, PNG, or WebP).
  2. 2Drag the quality slider — 70-80% works for most images.
  3. 3If the image is huge, lower the width and height too.
  4. 4Check the preview to make sure it still looks sharp.
  5. 5Hit Download and save the compressed file.

Real results from testing

These are actual measurements from using this tool, not estimates.

E-commerce product photo (Shopify)

Before

2400×2400px, 3.2 MB JPG

After

1200×1200px, 280 KB JPG (quality 80%)

This is the sweet spot for Shopify uploads. Product details stay sharp, page loads fast.

Phone camera photo (for WhatsApp)

Before

4032×3024px, 5.8 MB JPG

After

1600×1200px, 210 KB JPG (quality 75%)

WhatsApp compresses anyway, so sending 200-300 KB is enough. Anything bigger is wasted.

Website hero image

Before

1920×1080px, 1.8 MB PNG

After

1920×1080px, 340 KB WebP (quality 82%)

WebP is the better choice for websites — same visual quality, much smaller file.

Image Compressor features

Compression happens in your browser

Your images never leave your device. No upload, no waiting.

JPG, PNG, and WebP support

All three common formats work. You choose the output format.

Full quality control

You decide how small the file gets and how much quality stays.

Resize while compressing

If the image is too large, lower width and height — the size drops even more.

Frequently asked questions

What quality setting should I use?+

In my testing, 75-85% works for most images. If the image has text or fine details, go 85-90%. For screenshots, never go below 85% — text starts looking fuzzy.

Does my image go to a server?+

No. Everything runs in your browser. I can't see your images, and I can't save them.

Does PNG compression reduce quality?+

PNG is lossless, but to shrink it dramatically in the browser, it gets converted to JPG or WebP. If you need transparency, keep it as PNG — the size won't drop as much, but transparency stays.

Can I compress multiple images at once?+

Yes. Select multiple images, and each one is processed separately. You can download them all.

Does it work on phones?+

Yes. It works in both Android and iPhone browsers. Pick an image, compress, done.
